Normally I use socket for NE5532. If I want to scrap board I still use NE5532 for another upgraded board. Some chips are very expensive here like LM3886, LM4780, LM4766 etc., For Example, If I build LM4780 with preamp & crossover and I want to upgrade for any reason. I can scrap complete board. However, I can re-use capacitor (expensive component which is easy to de-solder) It does not mean LM4780 can not desolder, but it is complicated for me. LM4780 has thin pins and fear to break/bend the pins and damage the pads. Further cheap component including resistor can be scraped.
As I can easily remove NE5532 for re-use. Anybody use LM4780 with socket for re-use. |

solder wires to the chip leads, so if you want to remove it you can simply desolder the wires from the board one by one.
i like this methood, and i do not use pcb or any other board. point to point is still valid, and i love it. |

Bought a XY LM3886 Kit. and the few posts thereafter.
I think it was bcmbob that tested this and he too found it worked. Looks like yet another Member starts a new Thread without bothering to search, nor ask. Last edited by AndrewT; 9th September 2012 at 04:04 PM. |
