Hello All,
I am relatively new here but I have an idea of building an amplifier that can drive a pair of 20W, 8 Ohm speakers using an LM4562 or an LM4974 Op-amp. I have done some research and only found that projects that involve a headphone amplifier or a pre-amp but not an actual amplifier using these Op-amps. If I wanted to achieve this do I need a different Op-amp or would I be able to get away with the LM4562 or LM4974?

Opamp Based Power Amp
that is how its done.
the opamp alone will fail to power an 8 ohm load.
it likes something from 600 ohm upwards.
the linked site shows a schematic, use whatever you like opamp.
Most probably anything within regular audio opamp specs will do just fine.
if i was you i would first build the thing with a cheapooo opamp (using ic socket) then if all works as intended simply swap the opamp for something better. IF, that is, if You feel a need for it.
