I've used PKs in the MINI24/96 DAC and tried them also in the MyRef in C6/C11.

They sound more refined than STD, similar to FK but a bit less full.

I've ordered some too from PCX to try, I expect them to perform very well in C9.

A note... both BG NX and PK have a very low voltage rating (6.4V and 4V) and, until the amp works correctly this is not a problem.

But if something goes wrong in C9 goes full rail voltage (circa 35V) so that cap is likely to be destroyed and must be replaced.

I suggest to take some more as spares or to mount them only when the amp works perfectly, until then use some generic ones like the FG in BOM.

Rubycon are still around, one of their factories is 15 mins from my place and their headquarters is less than an hour away. I expect the Japanese audio crew have lobbied them to produce the black gate series again? (Anyone from Japan lurking here please PM me I have no local audio fanatic friends!)
I heard there was some specific production problem, any one have more information?
If it was purely a financial problem they could re-introduce the black gate series as a 'boutique' cap and we would still be better off than paying the current outrageous prices for remaining stocks.
The company English page is here

I was too slow editing my post.....
Here is the edit....
I'm sure most people know that Rubycon are still manufacturing, one of their locations is 15 mins from my place and their headquarters is less than an hour away. I expect the Japanese audio crew have lobbied them to produce the black gate series again? (Anyone from Japan lurking here please PM me I have no local audio fanatic friends!)

If it was purely a cost-effectiveness problem they could re-introduce the black gate series as a 'boutique' cap and we would still be better off than paying increasingly outrageous prices for remaining stocks.

Sadly, I think Rubycon realised that there aren't enough people listening carefully to music anymore (the age of surround sound and compressed storage), they turned their attention to making specialist capacitors to fit in flat screen TV.

Bored you all now I expect.... !

Hi Bill,

much simpler than that...

Rubycon is a big numbers company, they don't earned enough from manifacturing Jelmax's caps and dropped...

They should have chosen a smaller partner like Elna or F&T...

Just sent the email off to Intertechnic (True Copper mfg.) in hopes a smaller company might be interested in investigating the possibility of a new offering based in BG technology. I included Dario's patent references. I also asked if they know of any other company that would have the interest and capabilities. Hope they respond.

Dario, I ordered Black Gate F series as per your suggestion. But the most suggested one in c9 is FK. How do you compare these F series and FK?

Never tried F serie but I expect them to be better than STD and very similar to FK.
