Thank you Siegfried Linkwitz for publishing pluto. I have tried my level best to copy as possible as to SL's pluto but lacking of parts and my knowledge I could not. Yet, my build sounds pretty good.
I used op-amp NE5532, well fabricated board and good quality capacitors. Instead of using LM3886 I used TDA7265 mono for tweeter and bridge for woofer. 5.5" woofer and 2" tweeter produced very clean sound at low-medium volume level. As I found pluto does not sound good at high volume level. Classical & Jazz tracks sounds very good. Tweeter really sings all the tracks but not the woofer (I can't explain more about woofer or may be reason I have skipped some parts original to pluto.) Over-all the electronics is very good. I like it. thank you SL. |

With the Pluto enclosure being built out of US sized plumbing parts from a US hardware store it is a struggle in other parts of the world finding equivalent sized parts at reasonable prices.

That's true, that's why my electronics is poor to SL's pluto.

The other problem many DIY builder have been having is find components (mostly capacitors) of the correct physical size and value to fit the spacing of the older pc boards.

Not only capacitors I faced problem with resistors also, 6.8K was available but not 3.4K to my supplier so I used 3.3K.

There is not a parts availability problem. Digi-key and Mouser will ship to most any place in the world, I believe. There is a new Pluto PCB with easier-to-obtain capacitors. Resistors should not be difficult. The best approach by far is to order the PCBs from linkwitzlab.

Thank you BrianL
After reading lot-off pluto, now this is very sure not only exact build of electronics, speaker are similarly important. Madisound's speaker quotation (Driver+Shipping) is expensive for me. Without AURA NSW2-326-8A , Seas L16RN-SL, I cant' build SL's pluto. |
