Default LM3876 schematic

Hi There,

By popular demand ( of at least 2 people) here is the proposed schematic of my new amp. (See LM317 post in power supply forum.) An comments, critizisms, changes, etc., are appreciated, as I don't really know wht I'm doing. I just take ideas and parts of schematics, and put them together, and this is what hppened.

Thanx
The Happy Hippy

I can't understand why you are so reluctant to download the National Application Notes for this series of chipamps and the datasheet for this device and simply follow the National guidance.

I agree wholeheartedly... But he's awfully close, and all the important bits are as the App Notes.

I have the data sheet and the app notes for the LM3876. But I don't know what much of it means. I simply copy parts of the schematics and use them.

Thanx

then delay your "design efforts" and buy a kit of bits and assemble it exactly as the builder instructs.

Note this automatically excludes all kits that don't have a comprehensive set of assembly/build instructions.

When you can understand what the A.N. & Datasheet are telling you, then you can recommence your design project.

Andrew, if you build a chipamp with the schematic right from the app notes, what's the big deal? There is enough information out on the web, many different tutorials, photos, build logs, and different variations on the theme that a reasonably smart individual, who is being careful, can build one from a schematic.

He doesn't need to buy a kit. There is no argument that it might increase the probability of success, but it is not a requirement.

The app notes explain hoe their SpiKe systems works on the chip. I don't really need to know that. A lot of the info on the data sheet I understand. A lot I don't. But that doesn't stop me from trying. As for buying a kit, please see my comments on the LM317 thread in the power supply forum.

Thanx

Default The whole thing

Here's the whole thing put together. Any comments, criticisms, etc., will be appreciated. In your opinion, will it work?

Thanx

You have succeeded in designing a 10W bass guitar amp... Ten. Watts.

Are you sure you want to use 15v rails? (Hint hint)

Default Why 10 watts?

I have been told that the chip, LM3876, will put out 56 watts. And the voltage runs from 20v to 70v without much distortion. Also, that the wattage will be there anyplace in that range. So I guess I don't understand the 10 watts. If I have 30 volts across the rails, and over 3 amps available, why 10 watts?

Thanx
