The last time I had made some boards I was using a Brand New iron than what I had been using and the transfer failed three times.
Going back to the original iron that I had been using it worked the first time around.

Although I have not yet measured it, I suspect that the newer iron that I had gotten was not hot enough and it certainly didn't have a consistent heat distribution throughout the plate.
Most likely due to a cheaper and thinner plate construction of the heating element assembly.

I have yet to try some glossy magazine paper but the paper that I am now using is HP's Everyday Photo Paper semi-gloss product: Q1976A.

I have used some 4X6 glossy card with my Samsung CLP-300 in the past, But it was very hard to get the paper off of the board and it took a lot of soaking and peeling until I got it all off.
Once I did, I had found that this toner was very hard.

I now have a Samsung ML-1865W and the 4X6 paper would not work good with this toner.
It seems to be a little softer than the CLP type.
The 4X6 paper stock seemed to have some sort of plastic coating to it, and, it sealed to the board and ruined the print trying to get it off and the process took well over an hour to do so,Just to have a botched up print.

The HP semi gloss seems to work good for me as long as the iron was hot enough.
I haven't tried any other brands yet, But I will post the info when I do.

Good Luck and Keep on DIYin' !!!

I use glossy magazine paper with good results. I have a HP Laserjet 4050 printer that i bought cheap. I'm using 1200 dpi, economy mode off. No problems down to 0.3mm traces tho i prefer 0.5mm minimum.
