LM3886 with Dantimax pre-amp

I'm thinking of using a Dantimax pre-amp with my lm3886 amp. Should I go for the active or passive version?

What are the benifits and downsides of a active and pasive pre-amp?

It all depends if you need any extra gain. If your source will drive the 3886 to full output use the passive version. If it needs further amplification you will need the RemPre.

It all depends on the relative input and output impedances, as well as the system gain/s you require.

I will try it with just a volume pot first. If this works fine there is no need for a active pre-amp.

Had anyone had some experiences with the Dantimax kits?

this only addresses the system gain.
You must look at the input and output impedances.
