Default Need a Mono chip amp

Like the title says. Looking for a mono chip amp.

I have an extra Dayton B652 speaker lying around I want to make it into a portable speaker so I'm looking for a cheap mono chip amp to power it. Any ideas?

Default TDA2003

How about the TDA2003 - 8-18VDC producing about 10W into 4ohms. Simple and cheap to build. How much power were you loking for??

OK!! I just went and checked out your speaker. It's a thumper!! RMS 75W max so the TDA2003 would barely wake this cabinet up.

For what it's worth, there are numerous mono chip amps out there that pump out the kind of power you're looking for. Just type some search terms (mono, 40W, BTL chip amp) into google and see what you get. Failing that, go to the National Semicon, Toshiba, SANYO homepages and check out what they've got.

Why restrict the search to BTL.
Any 50W to 70W chipamp could be used without resorting to BTL.

You're going to struggle to get much power with an 18V supply.

You're going to need to bridge two amps or use an SMPS to increase the supplies.

Radio-Shack did a cheap In-Car Booster Amp that runs from 12V and gives about 40W.

I've got one of the Radio Shack bosster amps that you can have for the P&P. I think it was based upon the TDA2004. It's working but the original input leads have been removed. You will need to tinker with the attenuator resistors at the inputs as it was intended to be driven by a power amp (all-be-it a low power drive).

He did not place a voltage restriction.
He wants a chipamp to drive a 75W speaker.

He wants it portable which limits it a bit.
