Peters gainclone kits include Panasonic bypasses (10uf) Would it be better to use Oscons in these positions? I have both 22 and 47uf Oscons. If they would be better than the Panas. which value should I choose. Thanks BTW the Oscons are 63v.

Are you sure? I strongly suspect the caps you have are 6.3V, not 63V. As far as I know, you can't get any Os-Cons with higher voltage rating than 25V.
Edit - I took a closer look at the offerings, and there is an Oscon series that goes to 35V - but not 63V. Look at the parts with a magnifying glass, and you'll probably see the decimal point. Last edited by wrenchone; 4th January 2012 at 11:37 PM. Reason: more info |

They are a new design from Nichicon.

Nichicon is another matter - the Sanyo caps still max out at 35V. I'll look at the Nichicons, as they have interesting possibilities for a low ESL cap with damping. (Pssst - you should have mentioned Nichicon to begin with - Os-con is a Sanyo trade name...).

47uF (the largest value available) is still not a lot to place next to the chip. Since they do have some ESR (albeit low), they will probably be valuable for HF damping placed next to a large, low ESR electrolytic, and less problematic than a film cap.

Since Peter supplied the caps was part of the kit, I'd suggest you stick with them.
You could ask Peter directly in the Audiosector section.
