I installed my amp which is similar to this one on Ebay.
2*15W @4? Tripath TA2024 D-class Audio Amplifier Board | eBay I mounted it with four brass studs which grounded the PCB to the metal case. Inside this same case is a power supply with an earth ground. The RCA inputs on the board are now grounded to the case through the pcb studs. It works great connecting my cd player directly to the RCA inputs but it sounds terrible when going through an ALPS pot connected before the RCA inputs. I mounted RCA jacks on the back of the case to the pot and to the RCA jacks on the amp. The RCA jacks on the back of the case are isolated from the case. I wondered if the PCB ground is what's wrong. |

I've decided to leave the volume pot off the amplifier and use the volume level control for the headphone jack of my Sony CD deck. I still don't know if i should isolate my amp pcb from the metal case. Ithink i'll isolate it just to be safe.

I'd recommend isolating it from the PCB, but connect the case to earth ground.
