Default LM4780 PCB

Hi,

I have built a couple of amps and want to experiment with the LM4780 before I start my next amp. Instead of making my own PCB for the LM4780, like I did for my LM3875 amps, I thought I would just buy some pre made ones. I have emailed Peter Daniel, as he does a very nice LM4780 board, but it looks like it only comes with the PSU boads also.

I saw this on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LM4780-hea...item2c5e079651

Has anyone used it, the layout doesn't seem too bad, apart from the feedback resistors are far from the chip. I could of course solder these directly to the chip.

Any thoughts?

The feedback resistors aren't that far away, right next to the chip at a right angle (the ones to the right of the PCB being for input)

There are also a couple auctions for the non-gold("en") plated version for about half the price.

My mistake! How stupid of me.

Unfortunately the link you posted isn't a 'Buy It Now'.

Has anyone made an amp with one of these boards, what do people think of them?

... well place a bid then

There's a website URL stamped onto the board, you might ask around in that site's forum.

Hi,portreathbeach
You can solder these directly to the chip and don't solder 0.18ohm resistor(feedback resistor must be less than 20k),It will have good results

Just ordered a couple of boards from Peter Daniel at $10 each. Seems like a good price as they are gold plated and look to have a good layout. Also, I have read a lot of posts on this forum from Peter, and he seems to have a lot of knowledge in audio and seems well respected here on this forum.

I have an amp using the pcb from the ebay link. Runing at +-35v and it sounds decent, can't really say more. If you intend to listen it loud, be generous with the heatsink.

As I've found with all chip amps, the heat sinks are very important. I am going to use a simple thermal trip attached to the heat sink that will operate the Mute function at a certain temperature.
