Abandon GainClone.

Build a good inverting or non-inverting AC coupled version with all the National "optional" circuits added back in, for improved reliability.

The original Gaincard is AC-coupled, so a veritable Gainclone should also be.

why do you add 0.22R at the output? Are you doing parallel?

That's what some people use in place of the output inductor for stability, I prefer the inductor.

I prefer the conventional coil/resistor in parallel.

That's what I'm talking about. For some reason some people think that putting the coil-resistor combo in will cause a major audible impact, when in fact it's small fractions of a dB at frequencies most of us can't really hear. I 'm willing to sacrifice those fractions of a dB for amplifier stability.

Yup, they never count the cable impedance. Well, the cable may cost thousands for one feet. So, it must be perfect!
