500 watt amp up and rocking!!

Thanks to all for assistance!! Couldn't have done it without u all. this is my 500 watt amp build completed and tested, its installed under the floor of my screen porch. I used the sanyo stk 4048xi modules(150 watts rms @.008%thd) for the left and right channels and the 4050v(200 watts rms@.08thd) for the sub amp. The 4048's are running off a 500va 47-0-47 xformer for 124volts rail to rail also 15-0-15 for the sub low pass filter the 4050 is running off a 400va 45-0-45 xformer for 120 volts rail to rail. These supplies drop only 1.2 volts for the 4048's and .7 for the 4050 at full load. using 2x 9600 and 2x 8400mf goldtone caps for the 4048's and 4x 6800mf for the 4050. The supplies are switched on by Rod Elliott's signal detecting auto power on project #38 powering 2 relays one for each xformer. All the boards were handbuilt using Seno brand transfers and etched with 50% hydrogen peroxide and 50% muratic acid. The boards are built using a modular approach in that each board can easily be removed and repaired/tweaked. The ac input board (bottom right) holds the relays and a single ended supply for the signal power on board also included is a ac surge protect circuit and 10 amp fuse. the unit is powered off a dedicated 15 amp breaker in the mains panel to the left.Heatsinking consists of a small heatsink for the bridge rectifiers(between xformers) and a massive 11 lb finned aluminum common heatsink for the amp modules. the xformers are mounted to the 1/4" backplate and i used a little grease on them. Performance: 105 watts rms into 16r load (2 8r in series)for the 4048's and 240 watts rms into 4r load with my input configuration. just for fun i tested into a resistive load with my freq generator 8r on the 4048's at 1khz gave an output of 167wrms and 8r with the 4050 at 80 hz gave an output of 212 watts rms 4r with the 4050 gave an output of 295 watts rms not bad for an obsolete chip! I have a little over 200 hrs run time with no failures yet and did a test today put my ipod on random play and let er rock for 6 straight hrs today full crank the heatsink for the amp modules never got above 125f we will see just how hard we can push these modules. That's probably a misconception from my part but i never liked the STK modules....

How do they sound in an audiophile environment ?

Also, i know they are several STK module models available. Are they all suitable for a Hi-Fi system ? There are several second hand amplifiers that use STK modules... That may be interesting...

There are many different stk modules available but the best available ones are stk4050v (200 w thd .08 20hz-50k freq response) and the stk4048xi (150 w thd .008 20hz-50k freq response. google any others u may find for datasheets I was suprised at how good they sound considering my input is an ipod and my speakers are a bit on the cheap side (Insignia nse2111 for the 4 main speakers and a Dual sd12 sub)during testing i had a pair of JBL lx44's hooked up along with my old technics turntable threw on Pink floyd dark side of the moon and it sounded flat out fantastic!!
