Anyone use a old Hayes 14.4 Aluminum chassis to build a GG?

I have two of them, so I can build a couple Monoblocks. Only issues at this point are power supplies, since I dont think theres a Torroid that will fit in it. (have to see) Probably have to build an external PS................

If you know anyone in the IT field, ask around enough and you'll find some for free. They're everywhere, and most of the time sitting in boxes or on shelves collecting dust. Thats where I found mine.

Do you have Goodwill in Canada? Or a similar thrift store chain? The ones down here in the states always have all kinds of old computer equipment. The non-chain stores don't seem to get as much in the way of electronics, but Goodwill just gets tons and tons of that stuff, so definitely check there if you're able.

In addition to old modems, you might keep your eye out for old external disk drives. External SCSI boxes in particular are usually very well-built and would probably make a good amp chassis.

I've used 800 k Apple External Floppy cases for PLLXOs and a speaker switch... i've got some of the larger 400k cases kicking around... hmmmm

Ya, I have stuff like that laying around as well, but I just dont like the nasty ivory color, and the fact they're plastic. Just reminds me of work. Very blah to me.
