I - as I mentioned before - call mine "chipamps" or even "chimps", why not, any name seems to be better than - aargh - "gainclone"...
(some are called "opa-amps", which is easy to understand, but "opa" also means "granddad" in German, so it can be missunderstood too...) But , seriously, we should do a research / survey for a new and better name for that type of amp (power-opamp with very short signal and feedback paths and smallest possible psu caps), because there are chips in almost all the midfi setups and ghettoblasters etc. ShortFeedbackPowerOPAmp = SFBPOPA InvertedPowerOperationalAmplifier = IPOP just a start... Klaus bye, bye "gainclone" ugly monster: The return of the giant gainclone... The night of the living dead gainclone... |

As a non-native English speaker, I find the definition of “clone” from Oxford dictionary as the thing that seems to be an exact copy of another. Probably, it is where “Gainclone” came from...???

Chimps? Sound like a species of monkeys. I reckon it's probably too late, once the cat is out of the bag... Joe R.

The question came up again in an another forum about these false(?) pictures of a Gaincard. I wonder if anyone out there can open up a real Gaincard and take a photo so we can see the original box also and what's inside?

Noone who has got "real" pictures where I can see the original Gaincard enclosure?
About reviews, don't trust them very much unless I have 100% confidence for the reviewer.
