Thought I'd report on my latest project. A friend wanted to learn how to solder and read schematics, so I helped him build a CMOY while I built one as an example. It was a fun little build, but I have to admit, there is no improvement sound wise over listening straight out of my computer with my Grado 60s. It was fun though. It is built per Tanget's instructions, currently running no output resistor and a gain of 11.

What's the story of the enclosure? Is it DIY also?

I agree, it looks pretty good. It's nice when "laying around" turns out like "made to order."
No improvement?? Maybe that's more to your laptop's credit than a knock on your CMOY. For portable players, I think a headamp is essential. |

? I guess if you use proper headphones, that is true, though I find the ones (3) I have (ear-buds, in-ear and over ear) usually go more than loud enough for me out of a 1.2V player. Do you use something with way more than 32Ohm?
Having said that, I'm not so fussed with headphones, since I prefer loudspeakers, even if they're small for most listening ![]() I love the clean electronics you have there, you do not want to see my lay-out...
