Hello everyone
I just started this as a hobby. actually I want it to be a hobby.. ![]() I came across a TDA2005 which btw I think is a cheapo reproduction but I just want it to sound(the best, the better). I've searched over the forum but I can't open some of the files due to their extensions. I have a set of 6speakers from a Ford vehicle. they are rated at 25W 4Ω. I want to use 1 or 2 in a small box as small low freq speakers for a 5.1(homemade) small system; the rest will be either center or front/rear. I know they are not subs or anything like that they are just 5*7 or something like that(oval type). can some one post a schematic of an operational TDA2005 please. I was reading nuteronix thread but i can't open his posted files. it can be in paint program from windows(IDC). any free software suggestion will be considered/taken. I've looked all over the net and I got the impression that there is something wrong with the datasheet.( I could be wrong). I am getting the feeling that this is due to the wrong application but who knows. TIA any help is greatly appreciated |

The datasheet is not wrong and you can use any of the schematics in it.
If you want to draw your own PCBs, CadSoft Online: Download is fine.

Well I tried searching for parts to build this Amp and its all going downhill :-(((
I'm trying this schematic with the corresponding Parts from list, but I can't find caps at the value and voltage specified in the diagram. can I just use a 2.2uf 35V in the C1 position? I can't find 10V either. http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...2005bridge.jpg http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...DA2005list.jpg I visited digikey and could not find electrolictic capacitors. I don't even know if those are the ones I need. sorry for my lack of knowledge.I'm trying to learn as much as I can. from the diagram I noticed that cap 3,9,10 are solid black on both sides. what kind of caps are those... non polarized? I read somewhere , not to use polarized caps on any chip amps(i might be wrong). I've read the whole datasheet but can't find answers there. TIA |

C3, 9 and 10 are non-polarized caps. The best choice for them are ceramic caps X7R or better, second best are film caps.
To find electrolytic caps on Digi-Key you need to click on "Aluminum" in the capacitor section. The voltage ratings are minimum ratings. You can always use a higher rating. The drawbacks are sometimes bigger case and higher price. For C1 and C2 you can also use film caps instead of electrolytics. They are available at reasonable prices nowadays and considered to have better sonic properties.

My question is why bother with this old chip? many newer chips are far more easier to use. The TDA1558Q is a dual bridge amp in one IC. It needs no external feed back network, no bootstrap cap and no boucherot cell (the low value resistor and film cap on the output lead). Very few parts and you have yourself a good amp.

Well this is why.
I had a list of TDAs rated from OK to have to MUST have, the 1558Q is there BUT I went to a local surplus store and thats the best I could find. they have 2030 but I want to stay away from any specialty toroids transformer or a transformer other that what I can find locally. this is a proof of concept that I want to build, I know its not the best but for $1.50 ea, I said why not, although I must say that I am beginning to regret it. not finding those caps locally is making me want not to do it, but I really want to build it. I'll give digikey a browse later on and see what I find. I don't think I can get away with a higher voltage value on those 3V and 10V right? ![]() thanks |
