Basically you have the height of the LM3886 itself unless you go with taller capacitors. The height of the LM3886TF, which is slightly taller than the LM3886T, is shown as 1.052" (from pin tip to the top of the package). You will need add whatever space you deem necessary for running wires beneath the boards.

Default Case Room :

OK . I have a bit less than 3" . Are the caps on the kit for the 3886 in the signal - path ? In other words , is anyhing to be gained by using higher
quality caps ? ( Obviously , some caps might be taller than the chip . )

No, I'm referring to the power supply electrolytics. Taller ones are used if you want larger values and/or larger voltages (larger sized usually caps have lower ESR). I doubt any that would fit on the board would be 3" tall.

There are some capacitors in the signal path though, but you would have to research and decide which ones you would think about upgrading, and to what. There is an endless selection and and equally endless amount of opinion on what is best.

Default Thank You , Tyler .

I build speakers , and I use " fine " caps in the sections in the signal - path ; most often with the High - Pass section . By - Pass a lot with expensive ones. I believe I can here a difference . Some say it is a waste of money. But , it is a " One - Time " expense , and you have to listen to the result for many years , so why not ? DVW

get it working.
Listen to it.
Is it worth building a pair to insert in that chassis?
Then consider how you package all the components to fit.
