Hi
Wired my Antrim 300 va 25v traffo secondry wires in series as per the Antrim wiring diagram and the +ve wire after rectification reads 66 volts. This was measured when NOT connected to the amplifier boards ( unloaded ) So, to my simple mind I have -25 v plus 0v (centre tap) and + 25 v which should give me 35.35 volts rectified. Is my 66 volts actually 25 v + 25 v = 50 X 1.414 less a few volts for rectifiers and caps ? Have I got it wired 0 v - 50 v + ? Is this wrong ? ![]() The amp works well when this it's connected in this way. I don't mind being berated if it means I can get it right or....just understand what my measurments mean Thanks Andrew |

I think you measured 66v across + and - rails.
which means +33v/ 0 /-33v. Yo have to measure from ground (0v) to each rail. |

Hi
Thanks for the reply. I've just fixed it and all is well. It was something stupid which I've corrected and learnt from. I'll try and remove this thread now....but thanks to all Andrew |

Andrew, please don't do this !!
I can almost feel your foot ready for my *** here ! OK, I did exactly what Bobodioulasso ( a few threads up ) thought I may have done. I did not use my meter correctly and I'm really red faced. I said ' fixed it ' becasue I thought I'd done something potentially very dangerous and hurriedly switched it off. Stripped out the traffo from the case and double checked my Antriim wiring for centre tap and two 25's - it was as per the drawings. Put it back in, used the meter and had an ' ohhhh s...t ' moment. It was fine after all. Have you ever had one of those moments or is it just me ? One day, I promise....I'll post a worthwhile and intelligent thread. Hundreds will post fantastic replies and I'll really feel part of this community. I'm so out of my depth but my Gainclone is lovely, thanks to this site and you on occcasions. Music came out first time and it sounded a lot better than the rubbish I had already ( pic attached somewhere ) Thanks for the shove !! ![]() Andrew |
