newbie question but i've searched all over and couldn't find an answer to this

in all the gainclone schematics i've seen there is a pot connected to 1 channel. now what about the other channel?
do you connect it to the same pot?

also, i got this "radioshack stereo volume control" ,
part# 271-1732, a dual 100k audio taper. there are 2 sets of connections and radioshack provide the connection instructions:
http://support.radioshack.com/support_supplies/doc31/31139.htm
it doesn't make sense to me??

any help will be appreciated.

Looking at the front of the pot (with shaft facing you), the pin on the left goes to ground, the middle pin goes to the Gain Clone input and the right pin is the signal source (CD, tape, TV etc).

You need a stereo pot for stereo sound- one set of three connections is for left channel and the other set is for right, but it doesn't matter which is which.

Nice one,
David.

see image

does your pot look like this?

the left/right does not matter, they can be either way round.

the center pin is the wiper by the way.

hope this helps
