Is there an advantage of either one over the other for this?
Thx, Rob |

a well made switched pot has much closer matching of channels than a pair of tracks inside a dual pot.
The switched pot may be more reliable and certainly easier to keep clean. The switched pot is generally more expensive and sometimes as much as 200times more. The switched pot would need a much stronger motor if you decided to go for motor adjustment.

Thx. Don't need motor ctrl. One concern I have with switched POTs is that the make-break of contacts, as you rotate knob, could cause pops and clicks in the audio. Anyone see (hear) this happen?

I built one with reed relays, it certainly did happen. I believe you can get make before break switches which will certainly help but not totally eliminate clicks.

if you ensure that there is no DC voltage across the switch then make before break should lead to silent switching.
How often do you adjust volume, once per track, once per hour, once per listening session?
