I built a stereo amp with one HC1000 per channel around 1972. Each speaker cabinet had an Altec LA15 and a tweeter. To buy the chips I called the local distributer and told a tale of having to replace a set for the 5,000 hour replacement. Said our driver would pick them up on a cash ticket(I was the driver)! In New Orleans I helped build a bridged HC1000 amp to drive a Leslie speaker for Art Neville of the Meters.
Back then you could buy a 20 Lb power transformer to run it for $8.00 at a Surplus store.
