Hello!
I'm trying to safely get rid of Earth ground loops and I wanted to build this circuit: Earthing (Grounding) Your Hi-Fi - Tricks and Techniques I was wondering if I could use these parts from the ratshack (I don't have the parts on hand): 25A, 50V Full-Wave Bridge Rectifiers - RadioShack.com - 25A full wave rectifier (I know it's not the 35A on the ESP page is that ok?) 10 Ohm 10W 5% Wirewound Resistor (2-Pack) - RadioShack.com - 10 Ohm 10 watt resistor Can't seem to find a 100 nf cap on their site... Will this work? Thanks! --aaron |

Ratshack usually has the big FWR squares, I would not skimp on the diodes.
The resistors certainly are big, if you blow a 10w little-0hm resistor you're on your own then... The 100Nf looks like something to help clean up HF's, it'll probably work without it or with a 220nf...until you can source the 100nf. |

Thos components are perfect. Just look for any cheap 100nF cap.
This cap is meant to allow pass high frecuency current through it and make the enclosure act as a shield. Low freq current flows through the resistor. I have the same circuit in my main amp and works as a flame

Ps. If you look in the Bryston schematics, you will see they use the same circuit. It does really help to improve THD big time on the meters...With kind regards, Bas |

Forgive my ignorance, but what is THD?

Total Harmonic Distortion
You can find it here: What is Total Harmonic Distortion? - THD - Definition and Explanation of THD |

Slightly OT:
Do yourself a favor and order the big paper catalogs from mouser.com and allied-elec.com, and probably also newark.com. They were free, the last time I checked. They are excellent references to have on hand (and also make finding and ordering components much easier). I usually ended up ordering mostly from mouser.com. Pricing is usually as good as it gets and the minimum order quantity is 1, with no minimum order. |
