Default On/Off Switch Short Circuit

I just constructed a simple 10W stereo amplifier for some small speakers and it all worked fine until I wired in the SPST on/off switch. The circuit still works fine when the switch is in the "on" position but once I turn it "off", the 9V battery I am using for a power source begins to heat up as if it is short circuiting. Any suggestions? Thanks!

How did you wire it up? Can you show the way you did it?

Sorry, this is the only drawing tool available at the time. It's a really simple circuit other than the amplifier, but I don't believe the amp has the problem because it works fine when there is no switch or if it is in the "on" position. I must have wired the switch wrong somehow. It has been a while since I wired anything...

Perhaps I simply need more amps? Would wiring 6 AA batteries in series be a better shot than my single 9V?

The black wire should not be connected to the switch!
The black wire from the battery connects only to the PCB.
The red wire from the battery connects to one terminal of the switch.
The red wire to the PCB connects to the other switch terminal.
