OK, this may be a dangerous topic but.
I have BrianGT's kit here i'm throwing together to use at work on my desk. Going to be driving a pair of 4 ohm A/D/S speakers. Ive got quite a few left over panasonic FM 1000uf 50V caps. I'm wondering If I should throw these on the board instead of the FC 100uf caps that come with it. They will fit fine if i throw the .1's under the board. Is it worth the trouble? My last project I used all 1000uf FM's. But if its just a waste even driving a 4 ohm load, I'll save them for later. |

For the chipamp.com amplifier boards, I might install an additional pair of the FC 100uF's at each amplifier board, to tame the mids slightly. This post is simply opinion. |

True enough.
And, especially consider that opinions of others may have been formed while using speakers at the the output. . . speakers unlike yours in a room unlike yours with music unlike yours, etc. . . |

Only caution I will make is increasing the bank by ten fold could possibly be a strain on the power supply transformer on power-up, although that is not that much.
I don't know about all that " warmer mids" stuff. Power supplies need only supply/sink sufficient electrons to any device that is asking for it. The caps need only have enough "on hand" to replenish the small caps right next to whatever device is asking for it. The transformer need only replenish the main bank. That said, I am a big fan of big robust power supplies. I would use at least 1000 on just a single op-amp buffer, but that is me. Why use a fly swatter when you have a sledge hammer?

Since its a stereo set (you can a-b compare easily), I think that you should try both of the proposed options (post #1) and see which you prefer.
