Default Q re the OPA2227 Opamp

I am planning to try a OPA2227 Opamp into one of my CMOY amps, and would like to ask some Qs re this opamp:

1. Whats the SQ like of the Opa 2227?
2. I have heard it sound close to a Tube Amp, is this true?
3. Is there much of a diff between the Opa 2227 and Opa 2228 and which one
do you prefer ?

4. Up to how many Volts will the Opa 2227/2228 take ?
5. Whats it like on batt consumption ?

Thanks

227/2227 is too slow, and the 2228 is no wonderfull thing either..
the latter has a few qualities, but nothing extraordinary, unless the
price is very low...

I don't think the OPA2227 is too slow. I'd rather say it's too cold

I recently replaced the opa2227 with the LT1358 and have been really impressed.

Using it in a preamp feeding an LM3886 amp with fostex fonkens.

While I still dont like it as much as my aikido, it is a very nice combination.

Good idea! 1357 + 3886 = 135678 , and besides that, the LT1358 is really a good chip

Try also the LME49725 with the LM3886

its interesting than no one needs to know the gain of your amp, the impedance, sensitivity of your headphones, listening SPL, or power supply V to answer so definitively about op amp sound quality

certainly makes me question the quality of the opinions

Ok thanks for your reply, but quite surprisingly for eg why does alot of Opamp users such as Bio Science Geek and Bass Boost II use the Opa2227 amp and all swear by it, I mean to me it looks like this seems to be the most popular Opamp out there for CMOY amps.

Mine is a recommandation that involves sonic compatibility between chips. The LT1358 is 'crankier' than the LME49725, so if the former works well, the latter is pretty much guaranteed to do too

Regarding supply voltages, they're both specified starting from +/-2.5V and the upper limit must be the same too.

You could try the TLE2062 which has better output current, FET inputs, lower power consumption, and warmer, nicer sound
