Default Regulated PS for Chip amp

hi,

i am new to this forum; it is an amazing place!

i made a design with LM4780, now trying to make the PS. while browising through the designs discussed here, i found most of'em usem un regulated PS.
Could some one please tell me if a regulated PS is a must or not?

Also i am planning to use it with a Bose 301 series stereo speakers. Any body got a review on bose 301 with LM4780?

thanks!

Building a Gainclone chip amp with a regulated power supply (PSU).

Building a buffered Gainclone chip amp.

Regulation is generaly not necessary for gainclones. The IC used aready has very high supply noise rejection. And one of the features of gainclones is the very very low parts count.

Regarding Bose, they are generaly very crappy. The models I've heard had far far to much bass and next to no definition.

But with the cost of voltage regulation going down, why not?

The LM4780 on regulated power, is a good match for the Bose 301 Speakers.

However, since you're at diyaudio.com, then you might want to take a look at the diyaudio speaker forum.
