Couple of Questions about PC power supply, I have a 350 watt ATX PSU.
Can I use this power supply to test a lm4780 amp to see if its working ok. ie, wire +12v and -12v into amp without using rectifier board. Can I use the power supply to actualy run a small amp (not my 4780), but maybe a chip that will run on 12v. |

ATX PSUs are switch-mode, aka very noisy. Also, the -12v rail is going to have much less current then the +12v. Something like 5 amps for the +12v but only 0.5 amps for -12v. Some PSUs will have current per-rail written on a sticker somewhere. If not, Google it or measure it.

The negative supply is probably limited to a very low power rating compared with the positive 12V supply. Be careful to check the spec on the different voltage outputs you want to use.
