transformer with ct or non ct?

hello guys...!
I am newbie here and I would like to ask something about transformer.
which is better, transformer with or without ct, and why?
I will use that transformer to build power supply based on the schematic by carlos fm for my gainclone lm3886. the power supply will be non regulated one.
please give me some advice!

whatever the transformer is centertapped or has dual secondaries doesn't matter.
Please avoid transformers that have only secondary winding and no centertap.

can I use centertapped transformer to act as a non centertapped one?
how can I get 0-24V with centertapped transformer that has 24-ct-24?
is the transformer that has dual secondaries(0-24, 0-24) same as two non centertapped one(0-24), note :both has same VA ratings?

yes, I do need dual polarity dc supply with two transformer, but I can not decide whether centertapped transformer or not I should use? it is hard to find transformer with dual secondary in indonesia.

Hi,
you can make a dual polarity supply from one transformer. It must be either a centre tapped or a dual secondary.

The dual secondary can be converted to a centre tapped by linking the two secondary windings together.

andrew, I can understand that, but what's in my mind is how can I make 24-ct-24 with two separated transformer if the transformer is 5A ct? the secondary voltage is 12-ct-12 each transformer. thanx.

Connect the two transformers together in series. The join between them becomes your centre tap ground.
