well, it doesn't give a dumb L/R SS, it gives a truly immersive 3Dish SS...some casualties are meant to be expected

A bit like the OPA228P did in my cmoy, as compared to the AD845KN. Nevertheless, I've got the AD845KN and enjoy it extremely (with my Sennheiser HD238). I like soundstage but with the OPA228P the surround effect was a bit much for me

You could try the OPA228 as the buffer after your appreciated LT1469. It should work well. There should be a certain synergy between these opamps.

The LT1028CS8's amazing. If I should say how the music should sound, I would say like this.

hehe, we have different goals...you want an all-in-one chip, I want the cleanest/uncolored chip available to feed my Earth/Burson final buffer.
so far I'm trying two silly JRC4580 on the AK4396 output(as LPF), and I like what I'm hearing! on french forums they say that this chip is basically like a piece of wire....that's what it sounds like to me, far less colored than anything I've tried so far. |

I have to disagree with those who feel the OPA2134 sounds better than the OPA827. In my application (equalizer for Infinity RSIIb speakers), the 827s on Browndog adapters are head and shoulders above anything else I've tried including OPA2134, OPA2107 and LF353. More clarity, more detail, less noise, and lots of "jump factor". Application seems to have quite a lot to do with which opamp sounds better.

But who said that the OPA2134 sound better than the OPA827? The single versions have a definite advantage in sound quality anyway...
Myself, I only found that the OPA132UA has a much more musical tonality than the OPA827, with little loss of transparency. So if there's only one opamp in the signal path, between the two I'd choose the OPA132UA because I want to enjoy the music rather than study it

But, if you can use a bipolar, I'd take the LT1028CS8 over the two above...
It simply sounds better. |
