LM3886, TDA2050 etc., P2P or PCB
 
My first build LM3886 p2p. Now I am planning to build tda2050 for surround sound & lm3886 for subwoofer for my home theatre. I wish to find out advantage/disadvantage for PCB and P2P. I found P2P building very easy for me. Gainclone has very minimum parts and can build with P2P design. And I think 1) Amplifier having minimum parts can be build with P2P design. 2) Amplifier having complex circuit (which is not possible with P2P) can be build with PCB. Is it right ?

1) How long P2P design can work/sound ?
2) P2p designed amp in chassis can carry or fear to connect wire each other.
3) P2p design keep components as short as possible. (Direct to pin)
4) No need to buy or design PCB.
Looking for more comments.

If the circuit is simple (few parts only) - i will go for p2p.
When I built my gainclone I had already ordered the pcb but not use them.
here is picture of my 3875 p2p.

An answer for #1 would be "until you break it". The PCB mounting allows better stability (if you have kids, you know what I mean) and if it's designed properly it will work the same as P2P, if not better.

I took the approach of making everything as close together as possible to minimise the effects of long wires (or traces in the case of a pcb). Made it extremely fiddly, and almost impossible to make any modifications after the fact, but certainly seems agreeable from a sound perspective :)

Of course you can. It's even easier than LM3886, since you have less components. BTW, how do you power it, single or split supply?

I see no reason for them - my speakers have a better low-frequency response then highs and together with LM3875 sounds really clear and nice.And the distance from big RIFA filter cap to chip pin is some 5 cm +-.
Ive done the measurements with signal generator and 10ohm dummy load (30W approx). Input signal 0.3 and 0.5 V RMS (I can not use a larger signal due low wattage of dummy load)
Curve is almost smooth throughout the range from 20Hz-25 000 .
I will try to remeasure with bigger dummy load and larger input signal.
