There are dedicated MOSFET drivers that are designed just for that purpose.

Hi,
tone control circuits and asking for crystal clear sound are mutually exclusive requirements.

Andrew, in bits of our country (as well some of the younger population in other countries) crystal clarity is usually associated with the sound one gets when you turn the bass and treble controls to maximum position, or 'smiley EQ' for those fortunate (sic) enough to own an equaliser. I went through that phase myself in my audio journey.

I'm assuming the poster is looking for the sparkle and boom associated with lots of bass and treble in the music. In which case he has to use a Baxandall that allows maximum gain (large-value resistors and pots, and frequencies centered at 150Hz/2.5KHz). The choice of chip is not important, since the Johnson noise of the resistances will dominate the output anyway. A passive Baxandall preceded by a high-gain opamp will be a slightly safer bet.

Here you go

P.S. Sorry, no FET's but PNP/NPN's

At first sight the circuits looks simple, but they are wrong, because there is disbalance between both IC's.
U may try this, with one IC but single supply!
