Default Identifying fake LM3886

Hi, can anyone identify these as being fake?
And what is the best method for identifying fake LM3386's?

Thanks.Click the image to open in full size.

To me they all look genuine. Why do you think they are fake?

The TFs are completely plastic coated so they look alright.

Anyway, what is the prize?

Is it enought to see just a plastic coat on the chip to identify it as "original"????
I think all they are fake... I dont like their letter styles and colors. They must be more clear and more yellow (like laser type)..

Sorry guys no prize.

These were fitted to circuit boards that I had bought before I knew that fakes existed.
What has made me think these are fakes are the caps supplied on the boards are 10000uF 105c usr Rubycons that are definitely fake, as they were only available as 85c.

I have replaced all the chips with genuine LM3886 and noticed an improvement in the sound. Could be psychoacoustic but I don't think so.
I've sent a message off to National semiconductors to see if they can tell whether or not they are fake.
But I thought I would ask here too.
Thanks.

Hi,
the JM46AD looks smudged.

The "N" symbol seems to vary in thickness with the others.

Should the labeling be painted on or lasered on?
Does it depend on age? Did national change during production?

Send them back to National for confirmation.
They may just send you genuine samples in return.

Were they from ebay? I was planning to buy few of them before being warned about fakes. At least yours were not 'sanded' as shown on the other thread.

btw. the marking on 3875 from diyaudioprojects site seems to be the "non-yellow" too?

National will not do a failure analysis on a device unless you purchased the product from a franchised distributor. They do not have the man power (or money to waste)to deal with the other requests.
