I need to buy a chip the top number is JM66TD and the bottom number is LM3886TF. What does the top number mean? Where do you recomend buying one from, or is ebay ok as long as it is new? thanks

The top is just a serial number or batch number.

LM3886 is the chip, this is how you'll find it in stores and how you'll find its datasheets. TF means it comes in an insulated package.

You can get them from many places, it's a very popular chip and you shouldn't have problems finding it. Ebay can be cheaper (For me it quite often is), but other stores could be better for you, in the US.

Is there any way to test the one I have. I put a 152 volts to my PA and it burned it up.(not on purpose-bad gen.) there is a burnt tip 3rd from left. the circut board doesen't have amy numbers on it.
1 more thing, can I make another amp (150 watts) to fit in that cabinet and use those controls,(a kit like) I have never messed with electronics, but I can solder. Thanks again for your help.

3rd pin from the left is the output pin. I'm afraid if that appears to be burned that would probably mean the protection couldn't hold and the chip is fried. Most likely you'll need to remove this one and replace it.

I'm not sure how to test if a LM3886 is working properly with standard tools. Anyone?

If you take a picture of the circuit board and post it here, it would help. Most of the configurations are very similar to each other, so people could give you suggestions.

If nothing else is fired, replacing the LM3886 could be all you need to do. This is very likely, as in most of the configurations the LM3886 is the only semiconductor component, it takes most of the load directly and all resistors and capacitors are more likely to be still functioning in the case of a catastrophic failure. As for making another PA from a kit - there's many very very good configurations available in this forum, as well as many sources of PCBs, kits and all the help you'd need to make a new one yourself, if you're interested in that.
