Noob quest: Paia Chipamp?

Found this: LM1875 25watt kit from PAIA

Wondered if anybody had built this one, and if it sounded okay?

Looking into building my first chipamp, and exploring all the options (I had built an analog synth kit through them, and that worked out well).

Looks ok.

I'd get one of audiosector.com or chipamp.com's fare. There's support like crazy on this forum. You can even ask the board designers questions directly if needed. Plus the boards are of absolute notch-top quality.

I built a pair, and also a pair from BrianGT. They both sound fine, these (kit50) are doing fine, plent of power on my 86db efficient speakers. You can make changes to input coupling capacitor, as well as twiddling with some of the other components. Grounding is the important thing to pay attention to.

I am running a pair of these kits and find them very enjoyable. They were perfect for my first project. Use them with a 160VA traffo and a PS I made on strip board. As above pay attention to grounding. I ran the output ground straight to my star point.

is that the decoupling return, or the Zobel return, or the speaker return?

25W into 86dB/W/m speakers will be quiet or clipped on many music sources.
You need another 12dB of SPL for an adequate margin for dynamic music and preferably 18dB more.

I know that I'm not talking real listening levels, it is a combination of finding something to stay busy with, having music playing (usually folk, blues or instrumental). My next pursuit maybe is to make a more efficient speaker, I have built a couple TQWTL, and enjoy them with as little as 3W SE tube amps.

Guess I'll try one of the Audiosector or Chipamp ones.

On a separate note (should this be a separate thread?) I was wondering if there was a "bang-for-your-buck" mate, as far as DIY speakers go, for a chip-based amp? (efficiency/quality of sound/price)?
