I just put together some floor standing towers (5.25"x7.5"x49") with side firing woofers and wanted to tri-amp them. Anyone ever use the TFA9843J?
They're super cheap and require nearly no external parts so I can build them VERY quickly and use a DC power supply I have laying around - I've built LM3875/3886 based amps before and was pleased with them. What can I expect out of the TFA9843 vs an 1875/3875? I know output power will be low, I'm should be around 20w BTL into an 8 ohm load with a ~19v power supply. Will sound quality suck though, or are they reasonably good? |

The datasheet gives some clues. Under Applications it says
- Televisions - Monitors - PC speakers - Boom boxes - Mini and micro audio receivers None of the above applications is known for especially good sound. Next clues come from the reference data. THD 10 % 22 V 4 Ohm 8,5 W compared to the LM1875 THD 0,022 % ±25 V 4 Ohm 20 W PSRR is less than 60 dB, so power supply hum will start to become audible at normal listening level, if your speakers can reproduce 100 Hz at that level.
