Having read http://www.hagtech.com/pdf/snubber.pdf
i'm lost as how i calulate/measure the transformer inductance, transformer capacitance and diode capacitance, so that i am able to calulate the snubber R and C. Has anyone calculated their own snubber values? |

With the transformer disconnected !!!
Seriously though, to find the leakage inductance short the primary and measure the inductance across the secondary. To find the leakage capacitance, measure the primary to secondary capacitance. A Heathkit RLC bridge (or a more expensive one) should do OK. The diode capacitance will be specified in the manufacturer's data sheet. Of course, the junction capacitance is a function of the voltage across it so you have to guess. There are articles on snubbers on Motorola and Fairchild's databases, as well as the hag article. |
