This PGA23XX/CS3310 IR controller board is fairly small, but it requires a seperate board with the PGA23XX/CS3310 on it (which could be made even smaller).

thank you for the site remote tiny control board.
but i have no clue how to connect them together with the additonal board.
and i was thinking using it with small motor from cellular vibrator motor to control the potentionmeter.
I can build the mechanical gear for the pot. but I have no idea how the electronic part .

This board isn't specifically for a volume control, but it could be configured to power a motorized pot. It's only 5cm x 4.5cm.

Ok, well if you need much smaller than that you're likely limited to designing it yourself with small SMT components. You can use a digital volume control IC such as a PGA2311 and a micro to remove the space taken up by the pot and motor, but if you're going to do all that work unless you really love your chassis I would say it would make more sense just to get a slightly larger chassis.
You can't squeeze one of the kits in there if you lay the pcb on it's side maybe?
