I was looking for an 5532 upgrade, and have spotted this LT1124.
Nice spec, dual OP27 in SO8 package, with better noise and improved speed. Bought one and soldered it onto PCB. A few seconds later... holy smoke I toasted another one again, until finally found out the reason. Wrong pinout. I was not reading the datasheet careful enough. But I never expected there would be another dual Opamp pinout. Funny enough, the DIP package have common pinout. It's just the SO8 being different. LT1124 might be a nice sounding chip, but with this outstanding pinout, I can hardly find an usage to try it

I think that pin out was designed by the marketing dept.
...or the legal dept. another complication we must navigate. Ho hum. |

I've seen that before where the thru-hole parts are the same as expected, but the SMT part is different. I assume the dies are the same, so why somebody decided to change the SMT pinout is beyond comprehension
