National LME 49811

hello forum

ive lurked here before, figured it was time to join

i found this over at national's web site, it looks like a lot of fun and an awful lot of output power at low noise/distortion.

of course now all i need is suitable darlingtons

i havnt used darlingtons in an audio device before, always went for discrete, but tbh cant be bothered putting together a "discrete darlington" for an output stage for this. any suggestions of:
a/ a suitable manufacturer?
b/ suitable devices for a _sensible_ output level? ( i dont need 1kw lol) perhaps 150 - 250W @ 8Ohms?

i must say the new gen chip amps are getting exciting, the specs on this one(including the price!) are impressive

don't use an integrated darlington.
stay with two separate devices.
see the thread on drivers for 1943/5200.

Depending on the output power level you want to do why not just use the LME49810? It has lots more drive current so you might not need the buffer stage for the output stage. If you want to do FETs look at the LME49830.
