Thats 2 things you've most definitely learned so far. I keep thinking that when I make something I should make 2 of them, one to make the mistakes on and a "good" one.
You now know how much of a blast of electricity the power supply is capable of in a short circuit. I could be wrong on figures but I think it can take only 30 or so volts to kill, hence the regular safety warnings you will see around the forum.
Anyway you've got to sacrifice your share of magic smoke before the Audio Gods are happy with you.
