Last seven amps I have built used small caps, 10 - 22ufd, rioght on the power pins. With the LM3886 all have been with + attached to pin three and - soldered to pin4. Pin 5 in used for ground as the board used has this as ground plane.
To make it a little less crowded this last time, I attached the positive to pin 1. Pin 1 and 3 are connected via a trace. The distance the trace travels is maybe 1 cm. Seems like there is a decrease in dynamics, slam, and deep bass. I need to pull board and move the + bypass cap to pin 3 to verify.
Is it possible that it is better to solder the cap to pin 3 instead of pin 1 with both tied togeether on the circuit board?
