Do check the maximum voltage tolerance of those pins. They do require a resistor.

"On both the pins, the maximum applicable range corresponds to the operating supply voltage."

...and absolute Maximum ratings:
"VS Supply Voltage (No Signal) 60V"
"Mute Voltage Referred to -VS 120V"
"Stand-by Voltage Referred to -VS 120V"

So, the pins do not neccessarily require a resistor and I've seen plenty of circuits without one. But I agree, those are a good addition, along with some "delaying" capacitors. At the point when one decides to add these he might just as well upgrade to the suggested sequencing RC circuit. It's just two more components.

Hi, Here"s just an update ,I etched a PCB based on the Datasheet PCB with a few mods....It worked the first time I fired it up ,It has a very small amount of hum but no more than some systems I have heard....

Anyways Thanx guys....
