Default First chip amp - Looking for suggestions

Is there a preferred chip for a solid 30 to 60 watt / channel amp for an 8 ohms load? First time project so it should be a "simpler" design using inexpensive chips so I can burn and learn...

Also is a 100 or 150 watt sub amplifier worth the time and effort?

Peter

LM3875.. with 25VAC transformer , say 200 to 300VA, only need to use 5 of its pins.. can cut the rest off.. with parts soldered point to point....

google Nuuk's site Decibel Dungeon...

Erm... I would say its probably less hassle for the money to get a small plate amp for the Bass.

If you'd prefer a PCB take a look at www.chipamp.com. LM3886 is very similar to LM3875.

Nice Links man. I used Nuuk's site and took what I could get from the forum. I got mine up and running first try with no problems to speak of.
