I have 6 amplifiers to drive 6 speakers.

Is there any way to control all the 6 channel volume using just one pot?

Is there any other way( that is used in modern day home theater systems) to add a volume up and down key to increase or decrease the volume of 6 channels?

what about the good old fashion alps pots, look up the ebay on alps pots, you will find it.

OR

See this site, on his implemenation for 6 channel vol. for DCX 2496. you have to adapt for your condition.

is it fit for you?

You might want to consider using something like the Fairchild H11F1M analog opto-isolator, which can act as a linear current-controlled resistance. See:
http://www.fairchildsemi.com/sitese...t+Category&attr2=:Optoelectronics:Optocoupler

Some Vactrol analog optical isolators should work well, too. They are simply an LED encased with a photocell, giving a current-controlled resistance. They are not linear, though (more like logarithmic).

You should be able to easily make your own equivalent to a Vactrol, with something like a yellow LED and a Cadmium Sulfide (CdS) or other photocell, facing each other in a light-tight enclosure.

In any of those cases, you should be able to very-easily use a single potentiometer to control the current through six of the LEDs (probably in series) that the devices use to control the resistances at their other sets of pins. Use six resistors to make them into six voltage dividers and you're done.

the none of the "alps pots" in ebay are for 6 channels, they r all stereo.

check it http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=alps+pots&category0=

Oh really!

I have one of these pots I could sell you if you want it. It came from the above seller.

With the help of a fellow member I am working on a PGA2320 based volume control. It will be extremely simple with just volume up/down and mute controlled by push buttons. The PGA2320 can be "ganged" to make a multi channel control.

i am interested look at your email inbox. thanks

I've done this very thing before in a few cases, but I generally take a more complex approach using true voltage controlled amplifiers.

It can easily be done with operational transconductance amplifiers.

If suggestions or basic schematics are needed, I can draw some up quickly for uploading.

VCAs are nice because of the ability to carefully calibrate them to each other and for high speed control.
