I was reading the informative tangent's website (audiologica) and realize that his use of C4 may be applied to a gainclone kit.
http://tangentsoft.net/audio/pimeta/pguide.html http://tangentsoft.net/audio/pimeta/misc/schematic1.pdf Many people have said that, once big caps (10000uf or more) are added, the sound becomes dull. That's probably because the slow charging character of big caps. Adding a small cap, film perhaps, near the chip may solve the problem. Peter Daniel has said that putting a 100uf BG N-type helps the sound. Maybe the BG is functioning just as the C4 in Tangent's design. The op-amp in that headphone amp design is different from LM3875. How should we determine a good value and type for the fast charging cap? Any other suggestions, such as a combination of big caps, medium caps (1000uf ~3000uf) and a small cap? |
