Copper for heatsinks! Check with several of your local industrial (not residential) electrical contractors for old copper buss bars. A lot of older industrial switchgear contained beautiful flat copper bars for high current capacity. Contractors often salvage this copper as surplus before trashing old gear. Be prepared to pay the current rate for copper by weight.
A copper bar makes an excellent heat spreader when attached to an aluminum heatsink with thermal compound and bolts. |
