Hi everyone Im new here. I need some help with my first Amp build. Followed the instruction in http://tangentsoft.net/audio/cmoy-tutorial/ and built a CMoy Pocket Amplifier a few days ago. I just finished it today and can only hear on my left headphone. I double checked all my resistors and caps also. Any ideas why its only outputing the left headphone?
Here is a pic of the little bugger. ![]()

Hi!
Good for you that you have that chip! Try checking for cold solder joints.

Have you checked the headphones on a known good amplifier to make sure they aren't blown? If you have access to a scope you could also check to see if there is any signal coming from the right side.

Update 8-15-07
I just double checked my componants and soldering all checked out fine. Next i checked to see if my headphones were blown they are still good when I plugged into my home stereo. The only componant Im not shure of is my 10K pot wiring. I got it from a electronic store and the box was just labeled 10K pot. Its got some markings on the side 10KAX2. ![]() It looks like ALPS 10K (RK097) Potentiometer but Im not sure anymore ![]() I hooked it up shown in this picture below but it still only outputting sound on my right headphone. Did I hook up the pot wrong?

looks like your pot(v/c) wiring is incorrect.
give the schematic of your pot connection means how you connected the pot with your mini-amp...or it may be only one channel amp...recheck... i'm not sure but i'd try my best to solve your problem... ........Paswa |

Here is a SCHEMATIC of my amp.
Here is a TIGHT LAYOUT of my amp. I have a strong feeling its my potentiometer wiring but not shure how to trouble shoot it

The pot appears to be wired correctly (for an RK097).One way to check would be to swap the input wires R-L (center two connections on pot). If the sound moves to the other channel, then its your pot wiring. If the sound stays in the currently working channel, then it is something with the amp. Check all your solder joints on the bottom of the board closely (magnification).
