Hi,
24Vpk into 4r0 is 50W. A reactive speaker could have an effective impedance as low as 4*0.35=1.4ohms. Now try sending that transient 24Vpk into 1.4ohms and the transient peak current could be as high as 17Apk. Except that National guarantees that spike protection has cut in long before then.
