Hi
i'm constructing and 2-way audio system with STK Amps(4050II for sub and STK40-070 For high frequcny) So how can i make it practical to construct the power supply unit not very large ,imean ican't add separate transformers for each amp and filter in crossover so what i need is how to use a center tap transformer (26-0-26) to Supply The STK Chips And 12v For Filters(Where I Supply Always STK With (24-0-24 or 26-0-26) or if that not possible can i add separate tranformers and connect the ac terminals together to The General Supply(220v or 110v)??????????????????????? I'm So Confused Please Help ME Thanx |

Once you have the larger + and - voltages, you could use a linear regulator IC tapped off of each of those, to get additional + and - 12V supply outputs.
Which regulators you use will depend on how much current the +/-12V supplies need to be able to provide. For up to 1.5 Amps, for example, you could use the LM317 and LM337. You can go to http://www.national.com and put LM317 (and then LM337) in the Search box and then download their datasheets and related application notes. You might want to look at part of the schematic here: http://www.fullnet.com/~tomg/gooteesp.htm On that page, scroll down to the Quad Power Supply schematic. Ignore most of it, except look at the part on the right-hand side that has the LM317 and LM337 tapped off the +/-30V rails, to get +/-18V supplies. You could do something similar, except change the resistive dividers on the regulators' outputs to give +/-12V instead of +/-18V. But, again, what regulators you use will depend on how much current you need to be able to get from the +/-12V supplies. If you need more than about 3A from each of those (and note that 3A would mean using regulators other than the LM317 and LM337), it might be easier to just add a separate transformer, to get the +/-12V rails.
